Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and hard-working individual to join our team in a Veterinary Kennel Assistant role. This position is vital to the daily operations of our clinic, ensuring our hospital is clean and sanitary, while also providing hands-on support to our veterinary technicians and doctors during patient exams and medical procedures. The ideal candidate loves animals, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to learn and grow within the veterinary field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Kennel Care & Husbandry: Feed, water, exercise, and safely handle hospitalized patients and boarding animals. Comfort anxious pets and monitor their well-being.
  • Sanitation & Maintenance: Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, exam rooms, treatment areas, and the general hospital facility according to strict safety protocols. Wash and fold laundry.
  • Veterinary Assisting: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with safe patient restraint for exams, blood draws, and medical procedures.
  • Laboratory & Pharmacy Support: Assist in prepping lab samples, cleaning surgical packs, and preparing treatment areas.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately document patient elimination, food/water intake, and behavioral observations in patient charts.
  • Client Communication: Safely bring patients to and from owners during check-in/check-out, ensuring a friendly and professional experience.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in an animal care environment (clinic, shelter, or boarding facility) is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Must be able to fulfill a regular, full-time schedule (which may include weekends and holidays to care for boarded/hospitalized animals).
